It was the first time this product was taste-tested by the experts at the New York Times test kitchen and not only did it WIN First Place, it scored so high that it automatically made it into their Hall of Fame!
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups came in dead last. (I think their epic fail is a result of Hershey's (who snatched up Reese's a few years ago because they wanted to call it their own). The Hershey Company has a long and sordid past of "doctoring" their awful chocolate. Recently they took the cocoa butter out of Mr. Goodbar --replacing it with cheap oil-- and when they got caught, then tried to claim that their customers liked it better that way! Liars!) Cadbury has an iron-clad manufacturing deal with Hershey that specifically forbids Hershey from "messing with" the famous Cadbury quality or ingredients. (Yet, for some reason, the British-made version and Middle-Eastern versions of Cadbury's are better tasting than the Hershey-made versions... I wonder why...?)
My personal taste tests confirm the wisdom of the professional tasters. Newman's Own Organics Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups are pieces of pure heaven. (Those weaned on Reese's are in for a surprise! Only their ads are good.)
